Fresh Menswear Editorial

Last fall I connected with Vaughn Stewart, editor in chief of Cool America Magazine. We had a couple of great phone conversations and decided to shoot an editorial together for the winter edition of his magazine. He mentioned the possibility of using Forest Hills Gardens as a location. I took a drive out and we toured around the neighborhood. I fell in love with the area and saw endless possibilities of incredible images. Vaughn hit up a half dozen of the top New York model agencies and we both agreed that Braxton Claudill from One Management New York was perfect for the story. Vaughn tapped Brian Robinson, BDR Styling to create out looks.

Shoot day was a breeze. Although we photographed a couple of looks inside an apartment and on a beautiful balcony, Vaughn felt it was not consistent with the editorial feel of the story. Even though I loved the images, I had to agree. We piled into my car, parked by the local train station, shot two looks on the platform, a third look on the sidewalk, pulled around the corner and shot three looks on a side street. Might be the easiest editorial I shot, and I am in love with the results.

FW/21 Menswear Fashion Photoshoot

A recent shoot with male models from UMODELS New York: Rafael Roque, Gonzalo Calzon and Mohamed Barrie.

Styled by fashion director Mike Stallings, we shot at a single location in Brooklyn. I love the simplicity of the wall, offering a dynamic backdrop to showcase our killer guys and the street style high fashion.

Below are a few images from the shoot. Check out my instagram to see more of the looks and my website for more fashion and beauty photography!

Behind the Scenes Video – Fashion Lifestyle Photoshoot

My friend Kenny Chan of Full Motion NYC shared a behind the scenes video he shot from my lifestyle fashion photo shoot for shoe client J/Slides Footwear.  We had a great shoot, meeting in Central Park 6:30 am on a beautiful June weekday morning.  I was surprised how busy the park was at that time; runners, dogs, cyclists, trucks making deliveries. In retrospect I am not sure why I thought Central Park would be quiet.

Our models were Kianna Stupakoff and Lily Jean, both from Next Models, New York. Although they never met each other, they became best friends, at least for that morning.

Fashion Photography on Location

May and June have been really busy months for me. I have been shooting a lot of catalogs, advertising campaigns, promotional, and social media campaigns.  I even photographed my first wedding for a friend of the family who would not take no for an answer!

Now that we have some beautiful weather in New York I have been shooting jobs outside.  The past 2 weeks I had two shoots that took advantage of this.  The jobs were very different, but both great.

Jewelry and handbag designer Cristina Sabatini creates gorgeous high end pieces. She secured a phenomenal house situated on the water on the North Shore of Long Island. This weekend house was incredible and we had run of the entire property… including the Rolls Royce convertible! The landscaping was gorgeous, outdoor and indoor pools, magnificent decks, and super chill family that hosted us. The beautiful models were Genesis Suero (Miss New York) and Catalina Morales (Miss Puerto Rico). Hair and makeup by my talented dear friend Veronika Robova. The fashion stylist was Dash Armstrong.  The shoot was extremely elegant and upscale.  I love seeing the client beginning to post images on Instagram.  Can’t wait to see the campaign roll out!

Here is a photo of the two models shot by the outdoor pool overlooking the beach and bay.

Yesterday I worked for footwear designer J/Slides.  J/Slides is a fun, comfortable, youthful brand creating quality casual sneakers and shoes.  The client cast two great models from Next Model Management NYC; Lily Jean and Kianna. We met in Central Park at 6:30 am with camera, shoes and clothes and ran around the park taking fun lifestyle images. I was amazed how busy the park was at that hour. People running, biking, walking dogs, supply trucks making deliveries. The models were great.  We made super fun images and video.  I am looking forward to seeing the client’s select. Here is a behind the scenes photo of me with the models shot by my assistant at the end of the shoot.

Flashes of Hope Photo Shoot – Juvenile Cancer

I love my job.  It is so much fun creating images for my commercial fashion and beauty clients.  I really enjoy working with other creatives to craft images that sell client’s products and services… and I get paid for doing it!

Equally rewarding is the volunteer work I do as the New York Chapter Director for Flashes of Hope, a national charity which brings commercial photographers into pediatric cancer treatment centers to photograph the patients and their families.

Today we had a photo shoot at Cohen’s Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park, NY.  The photographer was Greg Morris.  NuBest Salon provided a glam squad for the shoot (hair and makeup). We always have an amazing time!   The kids are amazing.  The families give us strength, venerability, hope, and love. It really hammers hope what is truly important in life and puts any of my problems into context and perspective.

For the photographers and glam team, this is what we do every day.  For the families it is really special to be pampered and photographed.  In this day and age of Instagram and disposable photography we are creating photographs that document a critical point in the families’ lives that are treasured.  It is an honor to be able to do this.

Lots of thanks to child life specialist Faye Brick and Richard Piana of nuBest Salon for their continued support.

Here are some behind the scenes from today’s shoot.  Visit the Flashes of Hope website to see samples of the very special images created around the country.

Photography for Iconic Outerwear Brand Member’s Only

Last week packed up my camera, strobes, stands, seamless background paper and headed to the garment center to shoot for outerwear lifestyle brand Member’s Only.  After shooting the collection against seamless paper we set up outside for some additional environmental image shots.  The showroom has a few balconies overlooking W. 40th St. with east and west views which scream Manhattan.  I had a great day with models Gabrielle Covers from Major Model Management, New York, Todd Charles from Q Models NYC and my favorite Czech makeup artist/hair stylist Veronika Robova.  Sidenote, the client styled the shoot with cool footwear from their friends at Jibs Life!

Below are some photos straight out of camera, no retouching.

New Fashion Editorial

I am pleased to share a new fashion editorial I photographed that was just published in The Angle Magazine!  Fashion stylist and creative director Uma and I drew inspiration from Mia Farrow’s character in the Roman Polansky thriller Rosemary’s Baby.

After meeting in Williamsburg, the crew all piled into my 1994 Honda CRV and braved the horrendous traffic on the Staten Island Expressway to eventually make it to our location in the heart of New Jersey.

The model is Elena Kantariia of One Model Management, makeup is Emi Koizumi, and hair is Isaac Davidson of Wigbar.
